Incoming assistant professor of finance at Texas Christian University's Neeley School of Business.
Proud alum of Rice University's Finance Ph.D. Program.
My main research interests are in empirical corporate finance. I am particularly interested in novel approaches to study the finance-growth nexus, including the use of alternative data sources (e.g., satellite images).
My job market paper is titled "Branching Out: The Role of Selection in Bank Branch Entry and Economic Growth." In it, I exploit variation in completion across planned bank branches to disentangle selection and treatment effects of branch entry on local economic growth. Using light emissions recorded by satellite, I show that banks open branches in areas that subsequently exhibit growth, but do not cause this growth by branching there. These results cast doubt on a long line of literature suggesting a positive treatment effect of branch entry.
Outside of work I enjoy playing with my dog, weight training, gardening, and home-brewing wine and beer.
